Procedure:
1.
In order to
set-up the remote connection, you need to check first the network and
connection setting. On the left pane of your desktop computer click the small
icon of computer which indicated the network connection and click the Open Network and Sharing Center as shown
on the image below.
2.
Then, new windows
will pop-up, the Network and Sharing
Center. The red box on the image indicated that I am connected or belong to
Home group. You can change and modify some network setting in here like
allowing network encryption, change adapter settings and etc.
3.
In
home network, there are also some local computers that are connected to this
network. As show on the image below there are two computers on the same
network. The local computer there is JOHN-PC and my remote computer is
COKACE-PC.
4.
Well
now move to the climax of this conversation. First, click the start windows at
the left-bottom corner of your desktop computer.
5.
Search
the windows remote assistance and open it.
6.
After
clicking the remote assistance you will go to windows remote assistance window.
There are question saying what you want to ask for or offer help. Choose the
first one, “invite someone you trust to
help you”.
7.
Then
you will proceed to other windows; in this case choose “Save this invitation as files”. You are inviting someone and save
the invitation as file. Just ignore the other choices.
8.
Moving
on, save the invitation file and make sure that it can be easily access by the
user on remote computer. In this case I save it on the public document. You can
also change the name of invitation if you want and then hit ‘Save’.
9.
After saving the file, the windows remote assistance will
provide a unique password (combinations of numbers and letters). There is an
instruction there that says: “Give your
helper the invitation file and password”. So the user must locate the
invitation file and input the password.
10. Now we’ll go to the remote computer,
locate the invitation file and open.
11. Input the complete password (the red
arrow is the textbox as show in the image below) given by the local or the host
computer and click ‘OK’.
NOTE: Make sure that the password you’ve input is complete
and the same to the local computer.
12. Then the remote computer will display
a black image this means that connection is not yet ready. The status below is “Waiting for acceptance”.
13. Go back to your computer and allow
the remote computer to connect to your computer. Simply Click ‘Yes’.
14. In remote computer, the user can view
the page or actual window of your local computer. But the user can’t take
control the windows until he allows the ‘Request
control’ button at the top corner. (Indicated by red arrow). When you click
request control button another request will be sent to the local computer.
15. Then in the local computer, a message box will
pop-up. Check the ‘Allow ……’ then hit ‘Yes’.
16. You can now gained control to my
windows. When you see the status:
“Sharing control of the computer” at the bottom-left corner then the
connection is successful. You can stop sharing, chat and modify the settings if
you want.
Remember:
- Set-up with same network (ex: Home, Work and Public Network).
- Set-up with same OS. It will not run in different platform because Win7 and XP have different Windows Remote Assistance Setting.
- Use Windows Remote Assistance not Remote Desktop Connection (don't be confused).
- You can set-up windows remote assistance with/without internet connection.
- Input the complete password invitation (ex. procedure # 9 ).
Godbless!
